Operation Warm’s Summer Kicks program helped support children in need, with the generous help of local retailers, outfitting school aged children with 300 pairs of new shoes at three local Boys & Girls Clubs. DCU volunteers helped children at the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, MA find the right size and pick their own pair in support of this initiative.
National Night Out, a nationwide initiative which promotes police-community relations, saw several police departments present resources and an evening of fun to residents. DCU provided sponsorships to many of our branch community police departments to help fund food and activities like a rock-climbing wall, a frisbee dog show, and a balloon artist.
Community Harvest Project welcomed DCU volunteers to their Harvard, MA orchard to pick, sort, and pack 1,000 pounds of apples which were donated to local food security partners. Additionally, The Food Project invited a team of volunteers to their Lincoln, MA farm to help weed their crops during the peak of their growing season.
DCU is collaborating with The Kindness Rocks Project ™ to engage children and families in the community to connect through kindness. The goal of this global, grassroots movement is to promote random acts of kindness to unsuspecting recipients by painting and sharing inspirational messages. Partnering with local youth organizations like the Boys & Girls Club, workshops to paint rocks with youth emphasized kindness, compassion, empathy, and understanding.
